This IDEX (Initiatives d’excellence) project was created for questioning all garden uses, spatial relations and graphic representations from the ancient world until present. It focuses on esthetics issues, environmental and heritage problems and it proves how gardens are a place for sociability.
This research work involves different disciplines: history, geography, civilizations studies, sociology, architecture, urbanism and landscape architecture. This will be the result of many feedbacks between members from three universities: Paris University 3/7/13 of COMUE (Communauté d’universités et d’établissements de l’Université Sorbonne Paris Cité) and the National School of architecture Paris Val de Seine, Sao Paulo University and EHESS (École des hautes études en sciences sociales).
Several seminars, conferences and symposiums around garden issues will take place along this Project. Simultaneously, articles and scientific publications will be developed, and a database of an abecedary with several terms compilation about uncommon poetic academic concepts.
It will cover three main axes:

- Axe 2: Living the garden
- Axe 3: Re-create the garden
